MEET YOUR HOST

The diminutive Dane has been wowing audiences with her caustic wit since her student days when she appeared in Cambridge Footlights reviews. She has taken over the QI presenter’s chair following Stephen Fry’s departure and co-hosts the Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.

In a career that has taken in comedy, children’s television, acting, presenting on radio and TV, writing fiction and non-fiction books as well as plays and musicals, activism and the founding of a political party, Sandi is a true Renaissance Woman. A regular on Radio 4, she presented Excess Baggage and The News Quiz, and has frequently appeared on I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. On television, she’s been on Mock the Week, Loose Women, Time Team, Question Time, The One Show and has often returned to Have I Got News For You having appeared on the first ever episode.

Sandi has written a number of novels and children’s books, starting with Tales From The Norse’s Mouth. She has also been successful with non-fiction, including Girls Are Best, a look at the many women of achievement that history has overlooked, Island Race, an account of her voyage around the coast of Great Britain with her friend, Excess Baggage co-presenter and former Beirut hostage John McCarthy, and The Tricky Art of Co-Existing, a guide to behaving decently in an indecent world.

Sandi has over half a dozen honorary doctorates, has been named Channel 4 Political Humorist of the Year, and Radio Broadcaster of the Year by the Press Guild.
